Both Timber and Land appraisals are necessary at some point in your management of property, it is used to establish the values for tax purposes, values for estate disbursement, or for simply knowing what you have as an investment.
Staples Forestry provides in-house timber appraisal for its clients at either an hourly rate, or a flat per acre rate. The cost depends on the intensity of the appraisal. Values are determined by cruising the timber to establish volumes by species and commercial use, and then applying the local going rate for that species and product.
Basic information gathering cruises and appraisal begin at $1.50 per acre for local properties, with a minimum of 100 acres. Below 100 acres the cost is calculated at $35.00 per hour for the work. Intense cruises for more precise data begins at $4.00 per acre. Each tract is calculated as to cost prior to the beginning of any work, and is contractually stated.
Land appraisal is performed either by Associates of Staples Forestry, or by a local appraiser in the area of you land. Since land and improvement appraisal is very geographically orientated we use local appraisers. Usually, short letter appraisers run from $250.00 and up.
