Based on preliminary cost estimates for the College/Commerce Center it is projected to cost approximately $ 6,890,000 to build the facility. This number includes start-up expenses, equipment and furnishing. A break-down is as follows:

On July 9, 2009 we received a letter from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) approving a Financial Assistance Award in the amount not to exceed $ 4,000,000 to assist in establishing the “Polk County Commerce Center.”

On June 19, 2009 Senate Bill- SB 1670, relating to the transfer of certain State property from the Texas Department of Transportation to Polk County, was signed by the Governor. This bill secured the land for the College/Commerce project.
